FERRIS STATE WOMEN'S TENNIS ADDS PREP RECRUIT
Hastings' Amy Ingle To Join Bulldog Program Starting In 2007-08
The Ferris State University women’s tennis program recently announced the addition of prep recruit Amy Ingle (Hastings), who has announced her intentions to join the Bulldog team for the 2007-08 campaign. Second-year head coach Jing “Amy” Sun made the announcement today (Feb. 7).
A four-year varsity letterwinner, Ingle competed at the number one singles flight for Hastings High School her final three prep campaigns after seeing action at the second flight her initial season. She posted an overall mark of 82-23 on the prep level.
“Amy had a great high school career and will be a great addition to our program,” Sun said. “She’s continuing to work hard both on her tennis skills and academics in preparation for her freshman year at Ferris State. We’re excited she’s joining our team.”
The three-time team Most Valuable Player Award recipient was the first women’s tennis player in Hastings history to be named all-county four years in a row. She twice claimed the conference singles championship and was a first-team all-state selection as a senior. Ingle previously attained honorable mention all-state laurels as a junior.
Besides tennis, Ingle was also active in the National Honor Society and chosen as a Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) Scholar-Athlete.
Ferris State finished the fall 2006 campaign with a 9-3 overall record. The Bulldogs placed third in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) regular-season action with a 7-2 league mark and registered a third-place finish at the 2006 GLIAC Tournament (Oct. 27-28) held at the Midland Community Tennis Center in Midland, Mich.
FSU is slated to open the spring campaign Saturday, Feb. 17, with a non-league encounter versus NCAA Division I Bowling Green State in Toledo, Ohio. Match time is set for 1 p.m. (EST).
