FERRIS SOFTBALL CONTINUES TO LEAD MIDWEST REGIONAL RANKINGS

|The nationally-ranked Ferris State softball team remains first in the Midwest Regional Rankings for the third consecutive time this season.
For the third consecutive time this 2009 season, the nationally-ranked Ferris State University softball team is listed first in the latest NCAA Division II Softball Regional Rankings for the Midwest Region. The regional rankings were released by the NCAA-II Softball Committee on Wednesday (April 8).
The top 10 teams in each eight regions were listed in rank order with season records as of April 6.
Ferris State, led by 12th-year head coach Keri Becker, had registered a 19-3 overall record and a 14-3 in-region record. Comprising the top five in the 10-team Midwest Region rankings besides Ferris State were Wayne State (second), Ashland (third), Missouri-St. Louis (fourth), and Lewis (fifth). Fellow Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) members Saginaw Valley State and Grand Valley State ranked seventh and eighth place, respectively.
Nationally, the Bulldogs are ranked eighth with 285 points the latest (April 8) National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division II Top 25 Poll.
Ferris State, which is currently 26-4 overall and 12-2 in the GLIAC this season, returns to the diamond Tuesday (April 14) for a two-game conference series against West Michigan archrival Grand Valley State in Allendale, Mich. Game one of the league twinbill will start at 3:30 p.m. (EDT) with game two to follow around 5:30 p.m. (EDT). The two outings represent the first of six consecutive conference road encounters for the Bulldogs, who have won nine of their last 10 encounters to date.
