Ferris State (3-4-1; 2-2-1 GLIAC) trailed just over a minute into the league match as Sara Jones scored for the host Oilers (2-5-1; 1-3-1 GLIAC). However, Ferris State returned the favor and more as the Bulldogs tallied consecutive first-half goals at 31:54 and 37:03 to claim a 2-1 lead at the half. Redshirt reshman forward Bri Borgman (Holland/West Ottawa) posted her third goal of the season on an assist from senior forward Tammy Unsworth (White Lake/Walled Lake Northern). Borgman took a pass from the left corner and headed the ball into the far left side of the goal to tie the match.
Ferris State scored about five minutes when redshirt freshman defender Ellen Phillips (Middleville/Thornapple-Kellogg) put a shot above Findlay goalkeeper Alicia Tutino's head to give the visitors a 2-1 advantage. The goal represented the first at Ferris State for Phillips, who along with Borgman transferred to FSU from NCAA Division I Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Freshmen defender Mekyla Spraggins (Grand Rapids/Forest Hills Central) garnered the assist on Phillips' marker.
The Bulldogs maintained their lead until the second half's 50:57 mark when Lindsey Smith netted an unassisted goal to tie the match. Smith scored as a result of a shot hitting the post and deflecting right to Smith, who put the rebound in to the top right of the net.
FSU sophomore goalkeeper Becci Houdek (Canton) played 92:23 minutes between the posts and finished with five saves. Junior Kari Alsager (Mount Pleasant) relieved Houdek for the remaining 17:37 and didn't face a shot on goal. Tutino played all 110 minutes for the Oilers and had seven saves on the day.
Findlay outshot Ferris 18-17 and also held the advantage in corner kicks, 9-3.
