MEN'S GOLF TIES FOR NINTH AT GREAT LAKES REGION TOURNEY
Bulldogs Record A 597 Score In 36-Hole Event
The Ferris State University men's golf team improved its performance from the first to the second round by nine strokes, but still had to settle for a ninth-place tying finish at the NCAA-II Great Lakes Region Tournament II with a 597 score. The two-day (March 31-April 1) tourney was held at the Perry Park Golf Course in Perry Park, Ky.
The Bulldogs compiled rounds of 303 and 294, respectively on the par 72, 7,007-yard course. Indianapolis claimed first place with a 581 team score while Grand Valley State was second at 584 and Bellarmine captured fourth at 587 in the 22-team tourney field.
|Senior Kyle Mason produced a personal single-season best 148 score at the two-round Great Lakes Region Tournament in Perry Park, Ky.
Seniors Jeff Carlson and Kyle Mason led the Bulldogs with 148 scores. Both Carlson (74-74=128) and Mason (77-71=148) were among seven individuals to tie for 23rd place. Freshman Kurt Valley carded a 150 (75-75=150) and placed tied for 37th place.
Senior Brody Moreland fired a 152 (77-75=152) to tie for 52nd place as did junior Matt Erickson (78-74=152).
Seth Fair of Indianapolis was the top individual medalist as tallied a first-place 140-stroke total.
