Those fans in attendance at both Thursday's (Feb. 7) home games against Northern Michigan and Saturday's (Feb. 9) contests versus Michigan Tech will be given an opportunity to attempt one shot from the free throw line for only $1 during halftime of both the men's and women's basketball outings on both days. If the shot is made, the winner will receive a special prize. All proceeds from the event will go to support the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
The event is being sponsored by both the FSU Athletics Department and the school's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). Tickets will be sold at a table near the entrance of the gymnasium.
The Bulldog women's basketball team hosts Northern Michigan Thursday evening at 6 p.m. (EST). The FSU men's game against the Wildcats follows at approximately 8 p.m. (EST).
On Saturday, the women's game versus Michigan Tech tips off at 1 p.m. (EST) with the men's contest slated to begin at 3 p.m. (EST). Tickets both days will be sold at the door starting one hour prior to tipoff.
Additionally, a live video and audio webcast of all games this week will be offered courtesy of B2 Networks for a pay-per-view cost of $6 per game and can be accessed via the FSU Athletics Website at www.ferris.edu/sports (Click on B2 Networks icon). Bulldog Radio, which can be found on television Channel 21 via Charter Communications in Mecosta County, will air both of this week's women's games live while the men's games can be heard locally on WBRN (1460 AM).
Over the last five years, NCAA Division II student athletes have raised more than $500,000 for Make-A-Wish under one of the largest grassroots donations ever received by the foundation. The money has funded more than 70 wishes for children across the world.
The Make-A-Wish Foundation grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. Born in 1980 when a group of caring volunteers helped a young boy fulfill his dream of becoming a police officer, the Foundation is now the largest wish-granting charity in the world, with 67 chapters in the United States and its territories. With the help of generous donors and more than 25,000 volunteers, the Make-A-Wish Foundation grants a wish every 40 minutes and has granted more than 161,000 wishes in the U.S. since inception.
