CONNOLLY'S TWO GOALS LEADS TO EXHIBITION WIN OVER WINDSOR
Senior left wing Brendan Connolly (Canmore, Alberta) scored twice in leading the Ferris State men's ice hockey team to a 4-1 victory over Windsor (Ontario) Sunday (Oct. 5) afternoon in exhibition play at FSU's Ewigleben Ice Arena in Big Rapids, Mich.
Ferris State jumped out to a 1-0 lead after the opening period as Connolly scored on a power play at the 6:24 mark. The Bulldogs then went up 2-0 early in the second period as senior right wing Corey Couturier (Traverse City) tallied with 17:33 remaining in the frame.
Windsor closed the margin to 2-1 a little over four minutes later with its lone score of the game as Kyle Lang converted on a four-on-three power-play chance for the Lancers, who were outshot 53-14 in the contest.

Ferris State would counter with 4:52 left in the period as Connolly put in a rebound to give the hosts a 3-1 lead entering the final frame. A third-period power-play lamplighter off the stick of sophomore Scott Wietecha (Wolverine Lake) iced the win as the Bulldog defenseman converted on a power-play opportunity with 7:36 left in the encounter.
Connolly along with Wietecha both recorded multiple-point game performances for Ferris State. In goal, sophomore Pat Nagle (Bloomfield) made five saves in 29:41 of action before handing over the reigns to freshman Taylor Nelson (Regina Saskatchewan) , who stopped eight shots in the final 30:19 of the contest. For Windsor, netminder Jim Watt turned away 49 Bulldog shots on net with 18 of those coming in the third period. Ferris registered 17 shots apiece in each of the first two periods.
Ferris State converted two-of-eight power plays while Windsor was successful on one of eight extra-skater advantage situations.
